Inaugural BSidesNYC Security Conference Announced
New York, New York – December 30, 2015 – Cyber Security takes center stage at the inaugural BSidesNYC conference (https://bsidesnyc.org). The community-driven event will be hosted by D4CS at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City on Saturday, January 16th, 2016 and will be attended by nearly 500 students and industry professionals. Speakers will cover topics ranging from the state of the industry to bleeding edge research on vulnerabilities, exploits, protection, and response. The keynote speakers will be Chris Wysopal and Dino Dai Zovi, both long-standing and recognized experts in the field.
In addition to the talks, multiple activities will be available to conference attendees such as a Capture-the-Flag event run by Nettitude which challenge attendees to defeat security controls, an Electronics Workshop run by Alpha One Labs which teaches the fundamentals of hardware hacking, and a Lockpick Village by The Open Organisation of Lockpickers. Finally, an Entrepreneur Hour aims to promote innovation in the local security community.

BSidesNYC is backed by prominent technology and cyber security organizations such as Intel Security, the United States National Security Agency, Nettitude, Virtue Security, Mandiant, MWR InfoSecurity, and Threat Stream. Additional support comes from partner organizations including Women of Color in Technology, the Women’s Society of Cyberjutsu, and Pwnie Express.
A second round of tickets will be made available at noon EST, January 5th, 2016 (https://bsidesnyc.org/registration/), after the first round of 200 tickets were claimed in less than 24 hours.
